This is a book celebrating women late bloomers who found life, fame, and freedom after they had turned 40 Caroline Paul, the author of Fighting Fire , for instance took up surfing and in this book, she tells us why and how she did it, and how she found A glorious freedom doing so.This book is not only about the lives of contemporary women Some lived as long ago as 1788 Mary Delany, inspired by a petal from a geranium, discovered the art of collage A woman sixth dan judo master That is the story of Keiko Fukuda long a fifth dan black belt in judo, but finally, at the age of 60, became the first woman to hold the sixth dan She became an American citizen, and at the age of 98, the US Judo Federation promoted her to tenth dan She died a year later. This is a lovely book for a Christmas present, and I would have given it a five star rating had it not been sexist and omitted older men leading extraordinary lives.
